Remarks: I came to San Francisco with my parents in 1854 and have lived here almost continuously ever since. I was married in 1869 to John Ross Martins and have two children Ethel Hannah Martins and Ina Cameron Martins.

Remarks: My mother and I arrived in San Francisco in March 1883. We came overland via Southern Pacific R.R. My father started from St. Joseph, MO. In May 1850 en route overland to California and reached San Francisco in October 1850. His diary of the trip was found in the great fire. He remained here about six years from the time of his arrival returning in 1856 when he was married and lived in the East until 1883 when he returned bringing his family with him. I entered the Girls High School and graduated in 1885. My teachers were Miss Helen Thompson and Miss Mary J. Bragg. I also attended the State Normal School at San Jose in 1887. Taught a substitute class for a few months, was then married to Mr. Holmes and lived for a few years in Arizona. Returned to SF in 1910.

Remarks: I am a Pioneer Woman, only by inheritance- having been born in S.F. Oct. 31st (Hallows Eve) 1857, but my mother braved the dangers of early days by crossing the Isthmus of Panama on mule-back, young and alone, and joining her husband safely in the Golden States.

Remarks: My father and mother both came around Cape Horn and have lived here ever since but made many trips to their birth place N.H. With the exception of two years in Chicago. I have always lived in San Francisco. I was educated at the Denman Grammar School and the G.H.S. In Feb. 1888 I married Berry B. Kellog and have three children – Lester Shattuck Kellog, Berry B. Kellog Jr, Doris Anabel Kellog. I joined the “Pioneer Women of Cal. Society” Sept. 1903.
